Lokvičići is located about 60 km east of Split, relatively high above the sea level (600-700 m), with just over 1,000 inhabitants in two villages.
Just north of Lokvičići are three karstic lakes, being karstic holes filled with water, similar to the much more famous Imotski Red and Blue lakes nearby.
Until 1997 the area of Lokvičići was an exclave of the town of Imotski, from which it seceded, adding parts of the former municipality of Donji Proložac, today Proložac.

Coat of arms of Lokvičići - Image by Željko Heimer, 26 May 2008
The coat of arms of Lokvičići was designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, and approved by the Ministry of Administration / Central State Office for Administration before 2006.
The coat of arms is "Argent an eagle displayed gules beaked, armed and membered or and in the base three puddles azure, two over one.
The arms are canting, lokve meaning "puddle" in Croatian. The three puddles probably refer to the threekarstic lakes.
