Presentation of Postira

Postira is located in the very centre of the Brac island, towards its northern coast. Population is about 1,500. The main industry is, like everywhere else on the Adiatic coast, tourism, but Postira also has the famous canned fish factory Sardina, today mostly exporting tuna to Japan. A traditional craft is stone masonry.

The coat of arms is "Azure on a wavy barruly base azure and argent a three-master sailboat maroon with sails or in front of a fortified town argent on a high rock vert issuant from sinister".
The arms are, probably, based on some historical seal depicting a merchant ship in front of the symbolical representation of the town.
