Supetar is the largest town on the Brac island, facing Split across the channel. It has almost 4,000 inhabitants, much more during the summer, since tourism is the main industry.
Supetar was granted the Municipality Status in 1993, upgraded in 1997 to the Town Status.

The coat of arms is "Per pale argent and gules overall a key counterchanged".
The key is the attribute of St. Peter, the namesake and patron saint of the town. The design is credited to Mladen Grubišić.
