Škabrnje is located due east of Zadar, inland. It has 2,500 inhabitants, some 2,000 in the village of the same name.
In the Law on Local Administration, the name used until 1997 was in singular for,m Škabrnje, and it appears that it comes in the sources occasionnaly.

The coat of arms is "Azure a winged bull sejant argent nimbed and holding an open book beneath the frontlegs or".
The winged bull is an ancient attribute of St. Luke Evangelist, who is the patron saint of Škabrnje and to whom is dedicated a 13th-century church preserved there.

The table flag is in the shape of a ceremonial flag, which is probably not much different.
